My name is Mike VanDevender. I am from Bridge City, Texas. My mower is named “Red Rocket” My number is 21. I got the number from My favorite Nascar Driver . . . Ricky Rudd. He later went to another number but I kept it anyway. I’ve been racing in the A/P Class since 2005. I saw lawnmower racing on TV, and my friend, Tom Kelly (my team mate) and I went to our first race in Houston, TX. That is where I met Mike Cupps. He pointed me in the right direction. (Thanks Mike). I have a son born in 2005 named Jace. I raced motocross ATV’s for six years. During that time, I almost broke my neckin a bad wreck on a track in Houston. I thought lawnmower racing would be a safer sport until I wrecked my mower in Paris,Texas in 2004 . . . LOL. Once I raced my lawnmower I was addicted. Besides racing, I love hanging out with the great people at the races. It’s like one big happy family.
